Patrick McGee, the Financial Times’s principal Apple reporter from 2019 to 2023, is launching his new book, Apple in China. Harry Elderson, China Invest Group, and Rebecca Fannin, Silicon Dragon Ventures, are launching Patrick’s new book, published by Scribner / Simon & Schuster, on May 14th, 1155 6th Avenue. The event is sponsored by CITIC CLSA.

Patrick McGee delves into how Apple helped build China's dominance in electronics assembly and manufacturing, only to find itself trapped in a relationship with an authoritarian state. After struggling to build its products on three continents, Apple was lured by China’s seemingly inexhaustible supply of cheap labor. Soon, it was sending thousands of engineers across the Pacific, training millions of workers, and spending hundreds of billions of dollars to create the world’s most sophisticated supply chain. These capabilities enabled Apple to build the 21st century’s most iconic products—in staggering volume and for enormous profit.

Rebecca Fannin, who’s helping to sponsor Patrick’s book, is equally famous in Chinese literary groups. She is currently working on the second edition, Tech Titans of China. The event is sold out more or later.
