The Permanent Delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York celebrated the 53rdnational day of the Gulf Arab nation inside the United Nations headquarters in NYC. The event was hosted by Ambassador Dr Mohamed bin Awad Alhassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the UN in New York.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of high-ranking international figures, Ambassadors and diplomats, as well as a number of consuls general and business executives.

The occasion not only commemorates the nation's glorious journey but also highlights remarkable achievements across various facets of life under the visionary guidance of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

In a groundbreaking royal speech at the inauguration of the 8th term of the Council of Oman, His Majesty laid out a forward-looking strategy that builds upon existing efforts by state institutions. Recognizing the pivotal role of the Council of Oman in collaboration with state entities, the Sultanate emphasizes the importance of this synergy in implementing strategies that directly benefit citizens.

Last month, Oman witnessed a historic moment with the 10th Term Elections of the Shura Council, where citizens cast their votes using the innovative "Antakhib" electronic app. The high-security app, first introduced in municipal council elections, saw a robust participation rate of 65.07%, resulting in the selection of 90 members to the Shura Council.

Underlining a commitment to social welfare, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik unveiled the Social Protection Law, a landmark legislation ensuring comprehensive coverage for various segments of society. The law, set to be implemented in January 2024, includes programs providing financial support to the elderly, children, people with disabilities, orphans, widows, and more.

Education remains a cornerstone of Oman's progress, as the nation aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. Emphasizing the role of education in shaping a knowledge-based society, Oman has consistently invested in modernizing educational methods and infrastructure. The recently enacted School Education Law and the establishment of an annual "Omani Teacher's Day" reflect the nation's dedication to nurturing a well-rounded, skilled generation.

In line with Oman's commitment to national development, the Council of Ministers approved an ambitious vocational and technical education system, providing students in the 11th and 12th grades with diverse educational tracks and specializations. The focus is on aligning educational curricula with economic growth requirements and creating opportunities for youth in various scientific disciplines.

Recognizing the need for skilled national leaders, Oman inaugurated the Royal Academy of Management, underscoring the importance of fostering capable administrative leaders in both the public and private sectors.

The Sultanate's commitment to sustainable development is evident in its focus on governorates and cities, as outlined in Oman Vision 2040. Decentralization efforts, as seen in the Governorate System and Municipal Councils Law, empower local communities to contribute actively to the nation-building process.

Economic prosperity takes center stage in Oman's strategic plans, evident in the positive indicators seen in GDP growth, reduced public debt, and increased foreign direct investments. The tourism sector, a key contributor to the economy, continues to grow, with Oman actively seeking investments in renewable energy and clean hydrogen projects.

In the digital age, Oman is prioritizing a digital economy, with His Majesty's directive to implement and localize artificial intelligence technologies. The National Digital Economy Programme aims to build a thriving digital economy, promoting national industries and generating sustainable opportunities.

Geographical advantages are leveraged through special economic zones and free zones, such as Khazaen Economic City, attracting significant investments and contributing to Oman's economic growth. Positive outcomes have led to credit rating upgrades by international institutions, reinforcing Oman's economic stability.

On the international stage, Oman's foreign policy, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, emphasizes mutual respect, common interests, and non-interference in internal affairs. The Sultanate actively engages in diplomatic efforts to address regional issues, promote peace, and foster cooperation.

As Oman takes the helm of the 43rd session of the GCC Supreme Council, the nation's collaborative approach and commitment to unity are evident. Efforts to address regional challenges, such as the Israeli aggression against Gaza, showcase Oman's dedication to humanitarian causes and fostering stability.

Oman's renaissance, guided by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, reflects a nation steadfastly moving toward development goals and a prosperous future. The Sultanate's achievements, both nationally and internationally, paint a picture of a resilient and forward-looking Oman.
