UNITED NATIONS, President of Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi addressed the world body and called the United States to end the sanctions against his country, described them as ”US way of waging a war.”

President Raisi described the presence of the US in the Middle East region as a “lack of rationality”, which has been detrimental to “oppressed people, from Palestine and Syria to Yemen and Afghanistan, as well as the US taxpayers” in his speech to the General Assembly.

He stressed that sanctions against Iran, “are the U.S.’s new way of war with the nations of the world”, and a crime against humanity, especially sanctions on medicine, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Raisi said it’s a wake-up call for the world, and a reminder that all human beings are interdependent that despite these sanctions, the Tehran Research Reactor has produced radiopharmaceuticals – drugs containing radioactive isotopes – for more than one million cancer patients in Iran, made progress in the field of biotechnology, and is manufacturing its own COVID-19 vaccines. COVID-19.

On threat of terrorism, Mr. Raisi warned that ISIS/ISIL would not be the last wave of extremism and declared that terrorism has its roots in crises such as identity and economy: “the fact that modern lives have become devoid of meaning and spirituality as well as the spread of poverty, discrimination and oppression has helped the rise of terrorism”.

He stressed that “the occupier Zionist regime” referring to Israel was the organizer of the biggest state terrorism whose agenda is to slaughter women and children in Gaza and the West Bank.

Raisi said that so-called “deal of the century” failed just like any other deal forced on Palestinians,

He stated that “There is only one solution: holding a referendum with the participation of all Palestinians of all religions and ethnicities including Muslims, Christians and Jews.”

‘Nukes have no place in our defence policy, 'he told the world body.

Mr. Raisi demanded the implementation of international rules, and called for all parties to stay true to the Iran nuclear deal, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action which sets out rules for monitoring Iran’s nuclear programme and paves the way for the lifting of UN sanctions.

He declared that the production and stockpiling of atomic weapons are forbidden in Iran by religious decree, “nukes have no place in our defence doctrine and deterrence policy.”

He said that Iran is keen to have “large-scale political and economic cooperation and convergence with the rest of the world. A new era has begun.”

President Raisi noted the US foreign policy of “maximum oppression” is still on, said that “we want nothing more than what is rightfully ours. We demand the implementation of international rules.”

He said that his country does not trust the promises made by the US government. He noted that he seeks effective interaction with all the countries of the world.

“We don’t trust the promises made by the US government,” Raisi told leaders at the General Debate.

“Today, the whole world including the Americans themselves have admitted that the project of countering the Iranian people, which manifested itself in the form of violating the JCPOA and followed by the ‘maximum pressure’ and arbitrary withdrawal from an internationally recognised agreement, has totally failed,” Raisi said.

He noted that the policy of “maximum oppression” is still on, the Iranian president said that “we want nothing more than what is rightfully ours. We demand the implementation of international rules.”

Raisi added that “All parties must stay true to the nuclear deal and the UN Resolution in practice.”.

He said “Fifteen reports released by the IAEA nuclear watch dog have attested to the adherence of Iran to its commitments.”

“However, the US has not yet discharged its obligation, which is lifting sanctions. It has encroached upon the agreement, withdrawn from it and levied even more sanctions on my people.”

President Raisi said “The United States mistakenly believed it would render us desperate and devastated, but our perseverance has yielded results and will always do, for the smart and dynamic resistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran comes from our strategic rationality.”

He added that “While decisively defending all its rights and the interests of its people, Iran is keen to have large-scale political and economic cooperation and convergence with the rest of the world.”

“I seek effective interaction with all the countries of the world especially with our neighbors and shake their hands warmly,” he concluded his speech.
